Pipeline Infrastructure Company Limited (PINL), an indigenous Nigerian firm contracted by Heirs Holdings Oil and Gas Limited, has helped to boost Nigeria's oil production by reducing oil theft in the Niger Delta region.
In the third quarter of 2022, Nigeria's oil production declined to 900,000 barrels per day, down from 2.2 million barrels per day just three years earlier.
PINL's contract covered the security and maintenance of the Trans Niger Pipeline network, one of Nigeria's most critical pipeline assets. PINL destroyed dozens of illegal refineries and has reduced oil theft in the areas under its responsibility.
The company has also intercepted and destroyed large cargo boats and made many arrests. PINL has a Behavioural Change, Health and Economic Empowerment Initiative programme aimed at enlightening host communities on the danger of vandalism and oil theft.
The firm has also been providing critical intervention to victims of floods in the region, which rendered thousands homeless and without food.
