Power supply crisis may linger, PENGASSAN warns
The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has stated that Nigerians should not expect any improvement in the country's power sector anytime soon.
PENGASSAN outlined several reasons for this, including the flawed privatization exercise and challenges in power generation, transmission, and distribution.
The association's president also warned against selective implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act 2021.
According to PENGASSAN, the power sector is grappling with a severe debt burden, poor foreign exchange rates, and inadequate acquisition of tools and equipment to run the industry. Despite ongoing rehabilitation efforts in Nigeria's refineries, the outlook for the power sector remains dismal.
