The Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA) has launched two special medical companies in Enugu, Nigeria, namely NSIA Advanced Medical Service Ltd (MedServe) and Equilease Systems Limited (Equilease).
The authority also received the transfer of the state medical center, which will be rehabilitated and upgraded to provide diagnostic and oncology services, including radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and brachytherapy.
The new center will be managed and operated by MedServe, while equipment will be delivered through EquiLease.
Aminu Umar-Sadiq, the managing director and CEO of NSIA, said that these entities would provide a unique set of connected solutions to bridge the gaps in Nigeria’s healthcare industry and ensure increased access to healthcare services.
The development is expected to strengthen the industry’s value chain and unclog the constraints created by insufficient financial investments, inadequate manpower capacity, and substandard services.
Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, governor of Enugu, applauded NSIA's effort in providing quality medical centers in the state. He noted that the centers would improve healthcare services not only in the state but also in the eastern region of Nigeria and beyond.
MedServe aims to establish 23 modern medical diagnostic centers, three oncology centers, and seven catheterization laboratories across Nigeria's six geopolitical zones.
Its goal is to ensure equitable geographic access to excellent healthcare services for all Nigerians.
EquiLease is a specialty equipment leasing company that is expected to catalyze growth in the healthcare sector by providing an alternative financing option for the acquisition of capital equipment.
