The Lagos State University's School of Transport and Logistics is teaming up with the Asian-African Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Nigeria chapter to commemorate World Bicycle Day on June 3, 2023.
The event, titled "Royal Edition," aims to promote cycling as an effective means of transportation and a healthy lifestyle while also celebrating its impact on the environment.
The United Nations declared a specific date to promote cycling in 2018, and the first edition was held at LASU in 2019.
However, COVID-19 prevented the second edition in 2020. The LASU community and other guests will participate in various cycling activities, including a cycling marathon from the palace of Oniba of Iba Kingdom to the university's main auditorium.
The convener also announced awards, cash prizes, medal presentations, and a trip to the Netherlands for exceptional participants.
The Dean of the School of Transport praised the initiative, highlighting the evolution of cycling culture and its physical and environmental benefits.
