Invest in power sector to alleviate poverty in Africa, Elumelu tells private sector leaders

Tony Elumelu, the Chairman of Heirs Holdings and Transcorp Power Limited, has called on private sector stakeholders to invest more in Africa's power sector.

Speaking at the presentation of the discharge certificate of the Ughelli power plant, Elumelu stressed the importance of sustainability, health, and safety in the power sector, citing Transcorp's success in operating under strict safety standards since taking over the Ughelli power plant in 2013.

He also highlighted Transcorp's commitment to community development, job creation, and economic empowerment through initiatives such as a functional hospital and primary and secondary schools.

Elumelu called on private sector leaders to prioritize investment in the power sector to create jobs and lift people out of poverty.
