Aliyu Abubakar, the Director-General of the National Identity Management Commission, emphasized the importance of a reliable and secure e-identity system to promote financial inclusion and advance digital infrastructure during the CIO Club Africa Summit in Lagos.

He commended Nigeria's efforts to provide every citizen with a unique national identification number and a digital identity card to enable secure access to financial services.

The Chief Technology Officer of MTN Nigeria, Mohammed Rufai, emphasized the need for affordable and reliable connectivity to draw more Nigerians into the financial inclusion net.

The Director of Information Technology at Airtel Nigeria, Oluwaseun Solanke, stressed the importance of e-identity management in Nigeria, as many people are not yet benefitting from digital transformation due to low smartphone penetration.

 Representatives from MTN Nigeria also discussed the targeted rollout of 5G technology, aimed at areas where the population can afford both connectivity and devices.
