Buhari to inaugurate Dangote refinery May 22
The Dangote Refinery, which is owned by Africa's wealthiest man, Aliko Dangote, is set to be officially inaugurated on May 22, 2023, by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The refinery is located in the Lekki Free Zone area of Lagos, Nigeria, and is the largest single-train refinery in the world with a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day.
Although the refinery was initially expected to start production in 2016, its completion has been delayed several times due to various factors such as capacity expansion and difficulty in importing steel and other equipment.
However, experts predict that the refinery will help Nigeria become self-sufficient in local refining of crude oil and also have a surplus of refined products for export, which could potentially reduce the need for importation of refined products in the Sub-Saharan Africa region.
