BREAKING: Court orders NLC not to embark on strike
A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has granted an interim order restraining the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) from going on strike from Wednesday as planned, until the determination of the motion on notice.
Justice O. Y. Anuwe issued the order on Monday, June 5, 2023, and adjourned further hearing till 19 June.
Recall that the NLC has mobilised its members for an indefinite strike over the fuel subsidy removal.
The NLC shunned the meeting with the Federal Government delegation held at the Presidential Villa, on Sunday, June 4, 2023, stating that there would be no discussion unless the government returns the price of fuel to its previous rate.
NLC President, Joe Ajaero, in an interview, stated that until the Federal Government obeys the Appropriation Act of 2023, which makes provision for subsidy till the end of June, Congress will boycott the meetings with the government.
